OBERLIN INVITATIONAL...
OBERLIN, OH (February 11, 2006) - Senior Lillian Pinault (Fair Haven, NJ) and junior Emily Bruckner (Fairview, NC) each claimed an individual first place as the Case Western Reserve women's track and field team won the team title at the Oberlin Invitational last evening. The Spartans finished with 101 team points to win the seven team meet in Oberlin, Ohio.
Pinault won the 3,000-meter run with her time of 11:25.10 while fellow Spartan Karyn Wheeler (Worthington, OH) took third in the race (11:32.23). Bruckner meanwhile took the top spot in the long jump and finished second in the 200-meter dash with her time of 27.38. Spartan sophomore Harmonie Foster (Bedford Heights, OH) came in third place in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.73 while Case's Anna Taylor (Westerville, OH) was third in the one-mile race (5:37.29).
Taylor followed up the one-mile race with the second place spot in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:31.57. Case's Elyse Shearer (North Tonawanda, NY) and Athena Chen (Athens, OH) were right behind Taylor with the third and fourth place finishes in times of 2:32.02 and 2:32.13 respectively.
Several of the Spartans will be in action again today at the Division III All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Northern. The entire team will take part in the City Championships to be held Friday, February 17 at Baldwin Wallace College.
