BEREA, OH (January 21, 2006) - The Case Western Reserve University women's indoor track and field team opened up the 2006 season last night at the Baldwin Wallace College Invitational in local Berea, Ohio. Spartan sophomore Esther Erb - pictured (Richmond, VA) led the way with two individual first place finishes.
Erb took the top spot in the one-mile run with a time 5:13.94. She capped off her impressive night by demolishing the competition in the 3,000 meters with her first place time of 10:33.42, nearly a minute faster than the runner-up. Case freshman Rebecca Moore (Oneonta, NY) also claimed a first place with her time of 1:25.47 in the 500 meter run.
Also performing well for Case was freshman Kristen Bowhers (Rochester, NY) who took second place in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:13.55. Case's Elyse Shearer (North Tonawanda, NY) also finished in the top three as she took third place in the 500 meters in her time of 1:27.99.
Case will host the Spartan Relays at the Veale Center next Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
