GREATER CLEVELAND COLLEGES CHAMPIONSHIP ...
BEREA, OH (February 18, 2005) - At the Greater Cleveland Colleges Championship held at Baldwin Wallace College, the Case Western Reserve University women's indoor track and field team finished third overall. The host school Baldwin Wallace won the team title with 152 points while the Spartans compiled 105 points in the meet featuring six local area colleges.
As a team, Case had four individuals earn first place finishes along with a first place winning 4x400 meter relay team. Sophomore Emily Bruckner (Fairview, NC) took the top spot in the 200 meter dash in a time of 27.28. In the field events, Rachel Stoneking (Uniontown, OH) won the high jump with a leap of 5'-0 1/4", Cassi Armstrong (Cleveland, OH) took home first in the shot put with a toss of 39'-3 3/4", and Diana Kovacic won the weight throw with a long of 47' 7 3/4".
Junior Harmonie Foster (Bedford Heights, OH) finished second in the 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 27.85 and 1:02.11 respectively. Other second place finishers for Case included Irene Nagle (Kettering, OH) in the 800 meter run (2:33.47), Amy Staub (Oil City, PA) in the 1000 meter run (3:07.43), and Lillian Pinault (Fair Haven, NJ) with a time of 19:40.87 in the 5000 meter race.
Case will compete in the UAA Championships next Friday and Saturday February 25-26 held at New York University.
