CLEVELAND, OH (December 30, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University lost its first game at the Surf City Classic in Orange County, California to Concordia University (Wisconsin), 62-59. Concordia’s Asia Beckum hit a three-pointer with 1.9 seconds left in the game to snap Case’s four-game winning streak.
The Spartans (5-4), who trailed 31-28 at the half, were led by sophomore guard Ashleigh Tondo (McDonald, OH-pictured), who had a team-high 19 points and added eight rebounds. Senior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH) had a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, and junior forward Colleen Martin (Rocky River, OH) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Case will face Widener University tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
