WOMEN'S BASKETBALL—2007-08

Behind a strong defensive effort and some hot shooting from freshman guard Beth Andrasik (Sagamore Hills, OH), the Spartans (5-3) jumped out to a 25-19 lead at the half. Adrasik hit five-of-six shots for 10 points. Case Western Reserve forced 12 turnovers and held Wooster (2-4) to just 20 percent shooting. Case Western Reserve started the game with a 12-0 run, but stalled due to 12 turnovers.

The Fighting Scots took their first lead of the day, 30-29, with 15:48 remaining in the game on a Meredith Wilson three-pointer. The Spartans, who scored 32 points in the paint today, came back with a 12-0 run to take a 41-30 lead that would not be taken from them. Case Western Reserve forced an impressive 22 turnovers, but were guilty of 20 of its own.

Andrasik finished with a team-high 18 points and sophomore guard Ashleigh Tondo (McDonald, OH) added 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Spartans. Kym Wenz (Avon Lake, OH) led the Fighting Scots with 22 points.

Case Western Reserve will face Concordia University at the Surf City Classic in California on December 27 at 2:00 p.m.
