CASE 55, GROVE CITY 43...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 28, 2007) - Senior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH – pictured) recorded her fourth-consecutive double-double, leading the Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team to a 55-43 victory over the Wolverines from Grove City College.
Horton scored 14 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the field, and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to give the Spartans (3-3) their second-straight victory over Grove City. The team will host Ohio Wesleyan University on Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m.
The Spartans led after intermission, as sophomore point guard Ashleigh Tondo (McDonald, OH) had five points and five assists to give Case Western Reserve a 29-25 advantage. Tondo finished with a game-high 17 points and 7 assists on the night.
The Spartan defense would buckle-down on the Wolverines in the second half, as Case Western Reserve held Grove City to 7-of-32 shooting (21.9 percent), while scoring 15 points off 11 Wolverine turnovers to register their third win of the season.
As a team, the Spartans made 12-of-14 free throws (85.7 percent) tonight and are shooting 66.7 percent from the charity stripe in six games this season.
Freshman Beth Andrasik (Sagamore Hills, OH) scored a career-high 11 points in the win.
