CASE 67, CENTRE 53...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 25, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University senior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH-pictured) recorded her third double-double in five games this afternoon as the Spartans defeated Centre College, 67-53, at the Thomas More College Shootout. Horton, an All-Tournament team honoree, had 12 points and 10 rebounds, while senior guard Mary Herendeen (Austinburg, OH) led Case Western Reserve with a game-high 18 points. 
The Spartans travel to Grove City College November 28 for a 6:00 p.m. game.
Case Western Reserve (2-3) freshman guard Caitlin Henry (Fairfax, VA) gave the Spartans the lead, 6-5, five minutes into the first half with a made three-pointer. From there, Case Western Reserve would lead by seven three different times before taking a 31-26 lead into the break. Henry had eight first half points and finished the game with 13.
The biggest lead for the Spartans, who shot 54 percent from the field in the last 20 minutes, came at the 15:52 mark in the second half on a made layup by junior forward Colleen Martin (Rocky River, OH). That put Case Western Reserve up 16, 43-17, and Centre (3-1) would get no closer then eight points during the remainder of the game.
Chelsea Goodman led Centre with 18 points.
