BALDWIN-WALLACE 79, CASE 65...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 20, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University senior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH-pictured) recorded her first double-double of the season in the Spartans' 79-65 loss to visiting Baldwin-Wallace College tonight in a non-conference game. Horton had 17 points and 10 rebounds in 28 minutes of work. 
Case Western Reserve (1-2) travels to Thomas More College this weekend for a shootout tournament. The Spartans open up with DePauw at 5:00 p.m. Saturday.
Baldwin-Wallace (3-0) pushed out to a 16-point lead, 30-14, at 6:42 when senior guard Selena Eskinazi-Budge made one-of-two free throws. Then, senior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH) hit a layup with 3:03 left to finish off a 9-0 run and bring Case Western Reserve within seven, 30-23. From there, the Yellow Jackets held the Spartans, who shot just 26.5 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes, to just a point and led 35-24 at the intermission.
Baldwin Wallace increased its lead to 26, 61-35, on a made three-pointer by freshman guard Carrie Ritzler with 12:38 left in the game. Ritzler finished with a team-high 14 points. The Spartans cut it to 13, 74-61, with 2:10 remaining on another Horton layup, but that's as close as they would get. The Yellow Jackets edged Case Western Reserve in rebounding 40-39 in the contest.
Sophomore guard Ashleigh Tondo (McDonald, OH) and senior guard Mary Herendeen (Austinburg, OH) added 17 and 15 points, respectively. Tondo also had eight assists and six rebounds.
