WOMEN'S BASKETBALL—2006-07

Dempsey gave Case (9-11, 1-8 UAA) its first lead, 3-0, at the 18:18 mark and sunk a jumper with 16:20 left to give the Spartans their largest lead of the game, 10-3. She kept Case afloat, making another jumper at 2:12 to keep the lead at five (36-31). The Yellowjackets (18-2, 7-2) went ahead, 37-36, with 37 seconds left in the first half when senior forward Megan Krebeks connected on a jumper. Rochester led 39-36 at halftime.

The Spartans cut the Yellowjackets’ lead to two, 43-41, at the 17:55 mark in the second half on two made free throws from senior guard Maria Jackson (Middlefield, OH). Rochester built its largest lead of the game, 58-47, on a jumper by sophomore guard Johanna McNelis. Dempsey’s three-pointer with 0.4 seconds left completed a 21-16 run and gave the Spartans hope, but Rochester ran out the remaining time before Case could foul.

Maria Jackson added 19 points and four steals for the Spartans, to give her 45 points and 10 steals in this weekend's games. Sophomore center Julie Marriott led all Yellowjackets with 18 points and six rebounds. Case travels to the University of Chicago for a UAA game on Friday at 6:00 p.m. (CST).
