Senior guard Maria Jackson (Middlefield, OH-pictured) led three Case players in double figures with a career-high 26 points. Junior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH) added a double-double (14 points and 14 rebounds).

Junior guard Leah Feola began the game with a layup at 19:21 to give Carnegie Mellon (8-11, 2-6 UAA) its only lead of the first half, 2-0. Junior guard LaVonne Sherald (Pickerington, OH) then finished off a 10-0 run with a jumper at 13:42 to put Case (9-10, 1-7) up 10-2. The Spartans went up by 15, 28-13, on a three-pointer from Jackson with 3:44 left, but the Tartans battled back to only trail by eight, 33-25, at the half.

A three-pointer from Tartans sophomore guard Colleen Light cut the Spartan lead to one, 39-38, with 15:11 left to go in the second half. Case survived the scare and never let Carnegie Mellon gain the lead in the second half. With 4:13 remaining, junior guard Mary Herendeen (Austinburg, OH) connected on a shot from beyond the arc to complete a 27-11 Case run, bumping the score to 66-49 in the Spartans’ favor. Sherald gave Case its biggest lead of the game, 74-56, with a made free throw at the 1:26 mark.

Freshman guard Ashleigh Tondo (McDonald, OH) added 12 points and six assists. Feola led the Tartans with 20.
