CASE 71, WOOSTER 59...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 29, 2006) - Case Western Reserve University senior guard Dana Dempsey (Brooklyn, OH-pictured) scored a game-high 24 points this evening in a 71-59 victory at the College of Wooster. Case (4-1) will host Grove City College this Saturday at Horsburgh Gymnasium (6:00 p.m.).
After freshman guard Winnie Adrein put Wooster (2-2) up 7-0 with a layup at the 17:39 mark in the first half, Dempsey hit a jumper with 10:07 left in the half to tie the game, 15-15. She then hit a three-point field goal at the 1:25 mark to finish off a 19-9 run and give Case a 34-24 advantage at the intermission.
Senior guard Maria Jackson (Middlefield, OH) increased the Spartans’ lead to 17 points, 66-49, with a layup at the 4:42 mark in the second half. Jackson finished the night 7-of-8 from the field for 14 points. Junior forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH) recorded a game high 10 rebounds as Case edged Wooster, 41-36, on the boards.
