CLEVELAND, OH (November 21, 2006) - Case Western Reserve University lost to ninth-ranked Baldwin Wallace College, 78-50, tonight in Berea, Ohio. Junior forward Ashley Horton-pictured (Akron, OH) led the Spartans, who shot just 32 percent from the field in the game, with eight points and six rebounds.
Baldwin Wallace (2-1) forced eight Case turnovers in the first half and out rebounded the Spartans 22-20 (44-41 in the game). The score was tied 9-9 with 15 minutes left in the half, but the Yellow Jackets outscored Case 23-13 to take a 32-22 lead with under a minute (57.79) left in the half.
Case (2-1) brought it within four points (32-28) with just over 17 minutes (17:26) left in the game, but Baldwin Wallace put together two nice runs (9-0 & 9-1), outscoring the Spartans 44-14 to lead 76-42 with under three minutes (2:44) left in the game. Case turned the ball over 12 more times in the last 20 minutes.
Case will host Johns Hopkins University Sunday at Horsburgh Gymnasium at 2:00 p.m.
