CLEVELAND, OH (November 17, 2006) - Case Western Reserve University freshman guard Ashleigh Tondo-pictured (McDonald, OH) recorded a double-double in her collegiate debut as the Spartans topped host Mount St. Joseph College, 57-48, in the Franklin Savings Tip-Off Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tondo scored 17 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and recorded six steals in Case’s season opener. The Spartans will face Denison University tomorrow in the championship game at 3:00 p.m.
Case was down, 32-30, at the half, but outscored Mount St. Joseph, 27-16, in the last 20 minutes. Senior guard Maria Jackson (Middlefield, OH) had eight rebounds, four points, three assists and two steals. The Spartans posted 17 steals as a team and out-rebounded Mount St. Joseph, 45-41, in the contest.
