WOMEN'S BASKETBALL—2005-06

Case, who hit just one shot in the first five minutes, finished the half shooting just 39.4 percent.  Emory led 12-3 at the 15:09 mark, but Case went on a 19-8 run to take their first lead 22-20 at 5:57. They increased their advantage to six, 29-23 with three minutes (2:59) left, but the Eagles battled back and tied the game 29-29 right before the half.  Emory senior forward Lynn Oberschmidt (Cincinnati, OH) scored nine points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and 1-of-1 from the line.  She finished the day with a game high 17 points (7-11).

The Spartans increased their lead to 12 points (50-38) with under nine minutes (8:52) left in the game.  Emory came back and brought it within five (57-52) with 43 seconds remaining via a MacKenzie Bissett three-pointer.  Case sophomore guard LaVonne Sherald (Pickerington, OH) hit 4-of-4 (team 5-of-6) free throws in the end to snap the Eagles eight game losing streak and give the Spartans their 11th straight victory over Emory. Sherald finished the game with 13 points.  

The Spartans play their last non-conference game of the season Monday night at the Veale Center against Bethany College at 7:00 p.m.  They open up home UAA play Friday night at Veale against the University of Chicago at 6:00 p.m.
