WOMEN'S BASKETBALL—2005

The Spartans improve to 10-13 on the year and 5-8 in the UAA and Carnegie Mellon falls to 4-20 and 0-13. Case plays their last game of the season this Saturday in Atlanta versus Emory University at 3:00 p.m.

Hammell went 6 of 8 from the field (9-11 for the game) and scored 13 points as the Spartans led 36-23 at the half. Case out rebounded the Tartans 24-18 in the first 20 minutes, 38-28 for the game, and forced them to turn the ball over 16 times.

The Spartans, who shot just 35.9 percent from the field (14-39) in the first half, connected on 18 of 33 in the second half (54.5%). Case senior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH) recorded six of her career/game high 11 steals in the last 20 minutes as Carnegie Mellon finished the game with 33 turnovers.

Allen, a local Regina High School graduate, added six assists and 12 points. Spartan sophomore guard Dana Dempsey (Brooklyn, OH) and sophomore guard Maria Jackson (Middlefield, OH) had 13 points a piece and freshman forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH) added 12 points.

The Tartans were led by senior guard Lisa Seacat (Helena, PA), who had 13 points.
