#13 WASHINGTON 76, CASE 62 ...
CLEVELAND, OH (February 13, 2005) - Case Western Reserve University senior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH) led three Spartans in double digits with 17 points as Case fell to Washington University (MO) 76-62 in University Athletic Association action in the Veale Center .
The Spartans drop to 9-11 on the year and 4-6 in the UAA while the Bears, currently ranked number 13 in the country (Division III), improve to 18-4 and 8-3. Case travels to New York University this Friday for a 6:00 p.m. game.
Washington jumped out to a quick 12 point lead, 17-5 at the 12:32 mark in the first half, but the Spartans battled back and actually went up one, 20-19, with 8:06 left. The Bears outscore Case 11-9 in the remaining minutes to take a 30-29 lead into the break.
The Spartans tied the game five times in the second half, the last time with 4:32 left on the clock, 58-58. Washington, who out rebounded Case 46-37, outscored them 18-4 down the stretch to pick up the win. The Bears Hallie Hutchinson scored 15 of her game high 21 points in the last 20 minutes. Hutchinson also had a game high 14 rebounds.
Sophomore guard Dana Dempsey Brooklyn, OH) had 16 points and junior guard Amber Hammell (Parkersburg, WV) 12 to round out the Spartans scoring attack.
