WHEELING JESUIT 69, CASE 54 ...
CLEVELAND, OH (December 4, 2004) - Case Western Reserve University (3-3) freshman forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH), an Akron Archbishop Hoban product, recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game high 12 rebounds tonight as the Spartans fell to visiting Wheeling Jesuit University (2-3) 69-54 in the Veale Center.
Case struggled in the first half shooting just 25 percent (8-32) from the field and turning the ball over 12 times. The Spartans, who out-rebounded the Cardinals (NCAA Division II) 23-22 in the first 20 minutes, trailed 32-19 at the half.
Case didn't shoot any stronger in the second half making just 11-41 (26.8%) shots finishing the game 26 percent from the field. Spartan junior guard Amber Hammell finished with a game high 21 points, 14 of which came in the last 20 minutes.
Wheeling Jesuit had two players score 15 points on the night, senior forward Lauren Hansen (Portage, IN) and sophomore guard Katie Repicky (Kirtland, OH/VASJ). Senior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH/ Regina) added 11 rebounds for Case.
Case does not play again until December 21 when the travel to Las Vegas for the Adidas Division III Desert Shoot Out where they will face Adrian in the opening round at 3:30 p.m.
