CLEVELAND, OH (November 28, 2004) - Case Western Reserve University junior forward Carmen Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH), a Hawken product, recorded team highs in points (12) and rebounds (12) as the Spartans fell to Johns Hopkins University 79-54 in Baltimore this afternoon.
Case drops to 2-2 (0-0 University Athletic Association) on the season and Johns Hopkins, currently ranked 17th in the country by D3hoops.com, improves to 4-0. The Spartans will play their home opener this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. against Defiance College.
Case turned the ball over 16 times in the first 20 minutes and trailed Johns Hopkins 40-30 at the intermission. The Spartans shot just 30.3 percent from the field in the first half and 31.7 in the game.
Johns Hopkins, who only shot 40 percent from the field in 40 minutes of play, out rebounded Case 29 to 18 in the second half and 51-44 in the contest. They had two players score in double digits led by Ashley Felix's game high 19.
Spartan freshman forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH), an Akron Hoban grad, added 10 points and nine rebounds. Case senior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH), a Regina product, recorded a game high six steals, had three assists and scored six points.
