CLEVELAND, OH (November 23, 2004) - The Case Western Reserve women's basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season with a 73-68 victory over Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, OH.
Case made a five-point lead at halftime hold up behind a dominant effort from freshman forward Ashley Horton (Akron, OH). The Archbishop Hoban product netted a team-high 18 points to go along with 16 rebounds and three blocked shots. Senior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH) directed the floor action for the Spartans with seven assists to go along with 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
Amber Hammell (Parkersburg, WV) and Mary Herendeen (Austinburg, OH) each added in 13 points apiece to help Case get their second win of the season. Kelly Heil led Ohio Wesleyan with 27 points and five rebounds. The Spartans out-rebounded the Battling Bishops 54 to 30 while shooting 45% from the field.
Next up for Case is a visit to Baltimore, MD this Sunday, November 28 for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off against Johns Hopkins University.
