NOTRE DAME COLLEGE 71, CASE 62...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 20, 2004) - In the championship game of the Greater Cleveland Classic the Case Western Reserve women's basketball team lost 71-62 to the tournament host Notre Dame College
A night after upsetting a tough Baldwin Wallace team, the Spartans played equally gritty against Notre Dame College. At halftime, Case found themselves trailing by only four points, 33-29. Senior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH) led the way for the Spartans in the first half with 11 points and five rebounds.
In the second half, the Spartans came out flying and tied the score at 37 with an Allen jumper in the first minute of play. But that was as close as Case would get with Notre Dame steadily pulling away for the remainder of the game.
Allen finished with a team high 26 points and 11 rebounds in an exhausting 38 minutes of action. Junior guard Amber Hammell (Parkersburg, WV) also contributed 12 points and six rebounds of her own for the Spartans. But in the end it was Notre Dame and their 5'10" senior post player Amanda Blazetic's 29 points and 10 rebounds that were the driving force for the Falcons.
The Spartans, now 1-1 on the year, look to get back on the winning track again this Tuesday, November 23 when they visit Ohio Wesleyan University for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
