CLEVELAND, OH - Case Western Reserve University sophomore forward Carmen Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH) had a career/game high 15 rebounds and added 10 points to help the Spartans (9-15, 5-8 UAA) snap a seven game losing streak with a 55-46 road victory over Carnegie Mellon University (3-21, 0-13 UAA).
Both teams shot poorly from the field in the game. Case was 21 of 69 for 30.4 percent and the Tartans were 20 of 62 for 32.3 percent. The Spartans led by nine, 20-11, at the ten minute mark in the first half, but Carnegie Mellon cut Case's advantage to one, 27-26, by the intermission.
The Spartans forced the Tartans to turn the ball over 21 times in the game and out rebounded them 52-50, 30-24 in the last twenty minutes. Case junior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH) recorded a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Seven of her rebounds and nine of her points came in the second half.
Senior guards Jasmine Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH) and Angie Zeuch (Cincinnati, OH), both 1,000 plus point scorers over their career at Case, rounded out the team's players in double digits this afternoon in Pittsburgh with ten a piece. Carnegie Mellon was led by Elizabeth Painter, who had 15 points.
The Spartans finish-up their season at home this Saturday when they face Emory University at 3:00 p.m.
