WALTHAM, MA - Case Western Reserve University (8-12, 4-5 UAA) junior guard Keesha Allen had 12 points, eight assists, four steals, and five rebounds as the Spartans fell 65-60 to Brandeis University (16-3, 7-2) today in a University Athletic Association game on the road.
Case sophomore forward Carmen Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH) had a nice first half. She connected on three of five from the field and two of four from the line for eight points (finished with 10), but the Spartans shot just 32.3 percent as a team and trailed by eight, 32-24, at the intermission.
Case battled back in the second half behind the scoring of senior guard Jasmine Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH), Carmen's older sister. Rowan scored 14 points in the half (19 in the game), including two free throws with 1:03 on the clock that brought her team within three (59-56). The Spartans had it within three again with two seconds remaining (63-60), but the Judges made two foul shots to secure their sixth straight victory.
Brandeis had four players in double digits and was led by Danielle Fitzpatrick's game high 20 points. Case host Washington University (MO) this Friday at 6:00 p.m. The Bears are currently ranked 11th in the nation (Div. III).
