CLEVELAND, OH – Case Western Reserve University (8-11, 4-4 UAA) shot only 27 percent from the field and turned the ball over 25 times tonight as they fell to New York University (17-2, 6-2 UAA) 76-50 in a University Athletic Association road game. New York is currently ranked 15th in the country (ESPN/USA Today/WBCA).
Junior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH) had a team high eight points and four rebounds to lead the Spartans. The Violets had four players score in double digits led by junior center Chantal Kazay (Woodland Hills, CA), who had a game high 16.
Case only hit six of 34 shots (19.4%) in the first 20 minutes as they trailed New York 42-21 at the intermission. The Violets out rebounded the Spartans 25 to 18 in the half, 47-41 in the game.
Case shot a little better in the second half (11-32, 34.4%), but turned the ball over 14 times to lose their third straight, second in as many weekends to New York. The Violets beat the Spartans 88-79 last Sunday in Cleveland.
Case senior guard Angie Zeuch (Cincinnati, OH) added seven points. The Spartans travel to Boston tomorrow and will face Brandeis University on Sunday in another UAA contest.
