NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Case Western Reserve University (5-7, 1-0 UAA) senior guard Jasmine Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH), a Hawken graduate, guided Case to their third straight victory tonight with a game high 23 points as the Spartans defeated Wilmington College (7-6) 73-63 on the road. Rowan made five of nine shots from behind the arc in the contest.
The two teams were pretty much equal in the first half, but Case took a one point advantage, 31-30, into the break. Both teams shot 35.3% from the field (12-34), Case nudged Westminster in rebounds 23-22, but turned the ball over 12 times compared to their 10.
Things remained even in the second half as Case never led by more than six, 38-32 at the 16:14 mark. Westminster led 60-59 with 2:48 left in the game, but Case outscored the Titans 14-3 from that point on to win the non-conference game. Both team shot under 40% from the field on the night.
Case junior guard Keesha Allen (Cleveland, OH), a Regina graduate, scored 14 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds. Senior guard Angie Zeuch (Cincinnati, OH) added 13. Westminster was led by Desiree Sterling’s 18 points.
The Spartans travel to the University of Chicago for a 6:00 p.m. (CST) University Athletic Association game this Friday.
