CLEVELAND, OH - Ohio Wesleyan University (3-1) junior forward Kelly Heil's (Sylvania, OH) game high 28 points overshadowed four Case Western Reserve University (1-3) players, who scored in double digits, as the Spartans fell to the Bishops 73-77 in a non-conference game this afternoon at home.
Case sophomore forward Andrea Haylett (Mantua, OH) scored 12 of her team high 16 points in the first half as the Spartans led Ohio Wesleyan by eight (43-35) at the intermission. The Bishops shot 13 free throws in the first 20 minutes compared to Case's two.
Ohio Wesleyan continued to go to the line in the second half and ended the game making 26 of 35 from the line (Case 6-9). Heil scored 14 points in the last 20 minutes, ending the game nine of 16 from the field and 10 of 11 from the free throw line.
The Spartans led 73-65 with two minutes remaining in the game, but the Bishops went on to score eight straight points to win their second straight.
Case senior guard Jasmine Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH) added 16 points and sophomore guard Shawna Dinger (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and freshman guard Dana Dempsey (Brooklyn, OH) added 10 a piece.
The Spartans are at Defiance College Tuesday, December 2 for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
