ASHLAND, OH - Case Western Reserve University (1-2) had three players score in double digits, led by senior guard Jasmine Rowan's (Richmond Hts., OH) 12 points, but that wasn't enough as the Spartans fell to Ashland University (3-1) 60-93 in a non-conference game on the road.
The Spartans (NCAA Div. III) shot just 27% (10-37) from the field in the first half while Ashland (NCAA Div. II) connected on 56.3% (18-32) on their shots. Both teams turned the ball over eight times in the first 20 minutes as the Eagles led 46-30 at the intermission.
Case's shooting didn't improve in the second half. The Spartans only hit 11-35 (31.4%) and ended the game shooting 29.2%. Ashland out rebounded Case by 32-20 in the last 20 minutes and 56-39 in the game, 40 of them coming on the defensive end.
Spartan senior guard Angie Zeuch (Cincinnati, OH) and sophomore guard Carmen Rowan (Richmond Hts., OH) added 11 points a piece. The Eagles were led by junior guard Beth Everman's (Maria Stein, OH) game high 17 points and senior forward Alanna Buurma's (Willard, OH) game high 15 rebounds.
Case host Ohio Wesleyan University this Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
