CELEBRATING TRADITIONS OF EXCELLENCE

Only eight years after the game of basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith in Springfield, MA, the students of WRU's College for Women were enthusiastic -and successful- participants. Here the CFW's 1900 club championship team, attired in the standard game uniform of the day, gathers around the basketball in a classic pose. Their competition was generall intramural, though they also played a few teams representing other area institutions. The women's teams did not compete in a conference until after the 1967 federation of WRU and Case in 1967.
