MEN'S SWIMMING—2007-08

Case’s 400-yard medley relay team of sophomore Drew Swartz (San Diego, CA), senior Drew Kouri (Marysville, OH-pictured), freshman Chris Marquiss (Solon, OH) and sophomore Dan Wolak (La Grange Park, IL) placed first with a time of 3:38.67, starting the Spartans off strong.

At the first break, the Spartans led 49-44.Picture

Swartz was victorious again in the 200-yard IM, placing first with a time of 2:02.27.

After the three-meter diving event, the Spartans trailed 96.5-90, Case does not have a diver on its team.

However, coming up big for Case was junior John Somerville (Bloomfield Hills, MI), who placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:17.38. That put the Spartans ahead 106.5 to 99.5, setting up a huge final 400-yard freestyle relay.

Unfortunately, the Spartans lost the 400-yard freestyle relay and fell to the Tigers by two points.

Kouri, the lone senior on the Spartans, was honored by Head Coach Chris Conlon prior to the meet at the Senior Recognition Ceremony.

The Tigers have been red hot, winning five of their last six races. Case had won three of the past four dual meets against the Tigers.

The Spartans travel to Meadville, PA next Saturday to take on the Gators of Allegheny College at 1:00 p.m.
