The Spartans won three individual events and placed extremely well in relay competitions.

Junior John Somerville (Bloomfield Hills, MI) won the 400-yard individual medley at 4:17.68, just a half-second ahead of sophomore teammate Kevin Alland (Buffalo Grove, IL).

Senior Drew Kouri (Marysville, OH-pictured) was the lone swimmer to crack the one-minute mark in the 100-yard breaststroke event, as the Spartan placed first overall with a sizzling finish of 58.75, an NCAA "B-Cut" time.

Sophomore Drew Swartz (San Diego, CA) defeated Ian Pellerin of Ohio Wesleyan by .13 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke event, to clinch the gold, with a stunning finish of 53.36.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Swartz, Somerville, Kouri and freshman Chris Marquiss (Solon, OH) lost to first-place Wooster by a mere .05 seconds. Wooster’s top-relay team won it in 1:35.67, while the Spartans finished their race in 1:35.72.
