CLEVELAND, OH (November 18th, 2007) - The Case Western Reserve University men’s swimming and diving team competed in the Grove City Quadrangular Meet in Grove City, PA this weekend.
Kenyon College, Washington and Jefferson University and Grove City College competed in this challenging tournament consisting of three top Division III swimming programs.
The Spartans (4-3) went 2-1 against the competition, as they defeated Kenyon 145-131 and trounced Washington and Jefferson 182-94, before falling to Grove City 156-134.
The 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Robbie Browning (Grosse Pointe, MI), junior Drew Kouri (Marysville, OH-pictured), sophomore Drew Swartz (San Diego, CA) and freshman Chris Marquiss (Solon, OH) finished first overall with a time of 1:37.79. Browning was victorious twice in the afternoon after he clinched the overall 100-yard backstroke event, finishing in 53.99 seconds. Kouri struck gold twice; as he went on to win the overall 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:01.03.
Sophomore Kevin Alland (Buffalo Grove, IL) won the overall 1000-yard freestyle event, finishing four seconds ahead of the Kenyon’s Andrew Butler at 10:09.12.
The Spartans have the week off to prepare for The College of Wooster Invitational on November 29th-December 1st in Wooster, Ohio.
