CLEVELAND, OH (January 13, 2007) -
Case Western Reserve University returned to the pool this afternoon for the first time since December 2. The Spartans lost by a score of 113.5-172.5 at Carnegie Mellon University.
Case graduate student Pat Rodjom (Pittsburgh, PA) won the 100-yard breastroke (58.34-NCAA Provisional), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.07) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.41). Senior John Erickson (Massillon, OH-pictured) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.96) and freshman Barak Daon (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) won the 100-yard butterfly (57.43) to round out the Spartans’ top individual performances.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Erickson, freshman Dan Wolak (La Grange Park, IL), sophomore Brian Grady (North Canton, OH) and freshman Jerry Lin (Naperville, IL) claimed first place (1:29.47) and the 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Drew Swartz (San Diego, CA), junior Drew Kouri (Marysville, OH), Erickson and Rodjom finished second (1:39.06).
The Spartans travel to Denison University January 19 and will host the University of Rochester in the Veale Natatorium on January 20.
