CLEVELAND, OH (December 2, 2006) -
Case Western Reserve University, currently ranked 14 th in the country (by CollegeSwimming.com), finished third out of eight teams at the College of Wooster Invite held November 30 – December 2 in Wooster, Ohio. The Spartans posted a score of 1,318.50 and Westminster College won the meet with 2,232 points.
The Case 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Drew Swartz (San Diego, CA), graduate student Pat Rodjom (Pittsburgh, PA-pictured), freshman Barak Daon (Fort Lauderdale, FL) and senior John Erickson (Massillon, OH) won with a time of 1:37.37. Erickson then teamed-up with freshman Jerry Lin (Naperville, OH), freshman Dan Wolak (La Grange Park, IL) and sophomore Brian Grady (North Canton, OH) to place second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:27.01.
Individually, Rodjom also broke a pool record and recorded an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time with a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (57:23) and placed first in the 200-yard breastroke (2:07.62-B cut). Swartz finished third in the 100-yard backstroke (55.68) and 200-yard backstroke (2:01.58) and sophomore John Somerville (Bloomfield Hills, MI) placed third in the 400-yard IM (4:24.39).
Case’s next meet will be January 13 at Carnegie Mellon University.
