CLEVELAND, OH (October 28, 2006) -
The Case Western Reserve University men’s swimming and diving team defeated Allegheny College 143-94 today in the Veale Natatorium. Seven Case individuals won events and the Spartan men won two relays.
Freshman Drew Swartz (San Diego, CA), sophomore John Somerville (Bloomfield Hills, MI), graduate student Pat Rodjom-pictured (Pittsburgh, PA), and freshman Bryan Satlzman (Buffalo Grove, IL) won the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:42.19, and sophomore Brian Grady (North Canton, OH), freshman Jerry Linn (Naperville, IL), freshman Dan Wolak (La Grange Park, IL), and senior John Erickson (Massillon, OH) won the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:20.15.
Those swimmers would go on to win five other events. Drew Swartz won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:04.37. National qualifier Pat Rodjom finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:14.92. Dan Wolak took the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle in 49.41. Jerry Linn was victorious in the 200-yard IM in 2:02.24, and national qualifier John Erickson finished the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.79 to take first.
The Spartans will be back in the pool November 4-5 at Carnegie Mellon University.
