WOOSTER, OH (December 3, 2005) -
The Spartan men's swimming and diving team finished second out of 14 teams at the College of Wooster Invitational with a total of 1,412 points. Westminster College won the team title with a score of 1,600.
Senior Pat Rodjom-pictured (Pittsburgh, PA) led the way for Case as he had three individual first place finishes. Rodjom won the 200 yard IM in a time of 1:58.30 on the first day, the 100 yard breaststroke in 57.76 on Day Two, and the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:06.48 on Day Three. Rodjom set the Case varsity record and Wooster pool record with his 100 yard breaststroke time of 57.54 in the preliminaries. His 100 yard breaststoke preliminary time was also an NCAA 'B' cut qualifying time for Rodjom. Also claiming an individual first place for the Spartans was Justin Daggett (Bradford, PA) who won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:44.79. Chris Cook (Columbus, OH) placed first in the 100 yard freestyle in 47:34 and was right behind Daggett and took second in the 200 yard freestyle in 1:45.10.
Case won three relays as they claimed the top spot in the 200 yard medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, and 400 yard freestyle relay. Also swimming well for Case on Day Two were freshman Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, PA) who finished third in the 100 yard butterfly (52.22) and freshman John Somerville (Bloomfield Hills, MI) who took third in the 400 yard IM in (4:20.24).
The Spartans are off until January 14 when they host UAA foe Carnegie Mellon University at 1:00 p.m.
