UAA CHAMPIONSHIPS...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 8, 2008) - Case Western Reserve University junior Dominic Smith (New Richmond, OH-pictured) claimed a University Athletic Association (UAA) individual title in the 5,000-meter run with a NCAA Provisional time of 14:47.56 and finished third in the 3,000 meter run in a time of 8:40.66 to lead the Spartans at the 2008 UAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Veale Center in Cleveland, Ohio. 
The Spartans finished fifth (out of eight) as a team with a score of 51. The University of Chicago won the UAA men’s title with 120 points.
Case Western Reserve senior Brandon Jeffries (Northfield, OH) finished second in both the weight throw (14.70 meters) and the shot put (13.47 meters), sophomore Obinna Nwanna (Maumee, OH) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.98 meters and freshman Victor Whitelock (Lexington, OH), running in his first UAA meet, finished second in the 800-meter run with a time 1:58.39.
