SPARTAN RELAYS...
CLEVELAND, OH (January 26, 2008) - The Case Western Reserve University men's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2008 season at home today with the Spartan Relays.
 Senior Brandon Jeffries (Northfield, OH – pictured) took home the title in the men's weight throw (13.65m), while junior Ryan Breon (Barberton, OH) finished runner-up (13.40). Jeffries and Breon also finished fourth and fifth place in the shot-put this afternoon, respectively.
Junior distance runner Dominic Smith (New Richmond, OH) finished first overall in the men's one-mile run with a time of 4:23.34.
Senior distance runner Mike Petro (Cincinnati, OH) finished first overall in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:49.62. Behind Petro and finishing second was freshman Ethan Kleinbaum (Rutherford, NJ) at 16:06.28, while junior Mike Werneiwski (Buffalo, NY) took third with a time of 16:19.49.
Freshman Brett Beaugureau (Park Ridge, IL) finished third in the 800-meter run (2:00.31).
The Spartans will remain at home next weekend for the Case Western Reserve University Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
