MEN'S BASKETBALL—2007-08


CLEVELAND, OH (February 10, 2008) -
Case Western Reserve sophomore guard Antwain Coward (Washington, DC-pictured) had a season-high nine points as the Spartans fell to Brandeis University 88-57 today in a University Athletic Association game in Waltham, Mass.

Case Western Reserve will be taking a step back in time next weekend [Feb. 15-17] when it hosts the third annual Throwback Weekend at Adelbert Gymnasium. Brandeis (16-4, 6-3 UAA), currently ranked 10th in the country, jumped out to an early 9-0 lead just under four minutes into the game when Joe Coppens hit a three-pointer. The Spartans (7-13, 0-9 UAA) would not get any closer than nine in the first half as they were topped in field goals [20-9], rebounds [21-12] and trailed 47-22 at the break. Junior center Rob Skuski led Case Western Reserve in the half with five points and five rebounds.

The closest the Spartans would get in the second half was 22 when a Skuski layup made it 54-32 at 14:38. Coppens pushed the Judges lead to over 30, 63-32, with a pair of free throws with 13:17 left in the game. Coppens led five Brandeis players in double figures with a game-high 20 points. Case Western Reserve senior guard Brandon Bradford (Detroit, MI) and freshman guard Alex Hildebrandt (Fairlawn, OH) had seven points apiece.
