MEN'S BASKETBALL—2007-08

The Spartans will travel to the east coast next weekend to take on NYU on Feb. 8 and Brandeis on Feb. 10.

Herring knotted the game with 10:23 remaining in the first half, as his second three-pointer tied the game at 19-apiece. Herring’s baseline lay-up with 2:52 remaining would give Case a 36-33 advantage. Herring led all scorers with 12 points at intermission on 4-of-6 shooting, as the Spartans had a 40-34 lead.

The Spartans made eight shots from long-distance in the first half, shooting 48.8 percent from the field (15-of-31), while holding NYU to 43.3 percent shooting (13-of-30).

Richie Polan would bring the Violets back, as his three-pointer early in the second half tied the game at 42-apiece. Senior center Mason Conrad (Tarpon Springs, FL) would lead the Spartans back, as his jumper with 14:32 remaining gave Case a 49-47 lead. Freshman guard Colin Mulholland (Jacksonville, FL) drilled his fourth three-pointer of the game with 9:55 remaining to extend the Case lead to seven.

The Violets would again battle back, as Polan’s three-pointer with 5:03 remaining put NYU ahead, 62-59. The Violets would seal the victory down the stretch, as Keith Jensen’s three-pointer with 3:31 left would give NYU a 68-59 advantage.

Jensen finished with a game-high 20 points, while Polan and John Mish each pitched in 17 points for the Violets. Mulholland finished with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Case shot 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, while the Violets shot 37.5 percent from long distance en route to their 12th victory of the season.
