MEN'S BASKETBALL—2007-08

Case Western Reserve (7-2) has 24 days off before its next contest. The Spartans travel to Tampa Bay, Florida December 29-30 for a shootout. They open-up with DePauw University on December 29 at 5:00 p.m.

Kenyon (1-5) held the lead until the 14:42 mark in the first half when junior guard Steve Young (St. Louis, MO) hit a shot from long distance to put the Spartans up 12-11. Senior center Mason Conrad (Tarpon Springs, FL) then scored six points in the last three minutes of the half to give Case Western Reserve a 46-40 lead at the break. Young had 11 points (13 total) in the first half while Conrad had 10 (14 total). Young also had a game-high seven assists.

The Spartans stayed on top until Kenyon’s J.T.Knight hit a layup with 2:28 left in the game to put the Lords up one, 74-73. Dave Knapke increased their lead to four with a three-point play at the two minute mark, but Sutton scored six points down the stretch to secure Case Western Reserve’s seventh win of the season. The Spartans turned the ball over 19 times in the game, including 13 times in the second half. Sutton also had a team-high nine rebounds.

Freshman guard Kevin Herring (Blacklick, OH) had 17 points for Case Western Reserve and Kodey Haddox led four Kenyon players in double figures with 19 points.
