MEN'S BASKETBALL—2006-07

After an early two-point deadlock, Skuski finished off a 9-3 run with a jumper at the 15:06 mark that put the Spartans (5-20, 1-13 UAA) up 11-5. Skuski struck again at 11:38 with a layup that made it 18-11 Case. Emory (8-17, 2-12 UAA) junior guard Spiros Ferderigos brought the Eagles within five points twice afer that. Ferderigos hit layups at 5:59 (27-24) and 2:37 (30-26) to keep Emory within striking distance. Skuski finished the half with 19 points and Ferderigos with 12. The Spartans, who led 36-30 at the break, out rebounded Emory 21-14 (42-37 in the game) and shot 52 percent in the first half (51 percent in the game).

Ferderigos cut Case’s lead to one, 40-39, with a layup at the 16:22 mark in the second half, but the Spartans battled back. Sophomore guard Steve Young (St. Louis, MO) hit a three-pointer five minutes later (11:13) to put Case up by 10, 52-42. Senior guard Adrian Sosa then hit three-pointers at 5:07 (61-59) and at 4:19 (64-62) to keep the Eagles in the ballgame, but Young wasn’t finished. Leading by one, 65-64, Young completed a four-point play at 3:10 to put the Spartans back up five, 69-64. Young finished the game with 17 points. Emory senior forward Eric Barvin tied the game at 74 apiece with a tip in with 11 seconds left in regulation to send it into overtime.

After trading baskets the entire overtime, Case freshman guard Antwain Coward (Washington, D.C.) hit one of two free throws with eight seconds left on the clock to give the Spartans their first University Athletic Association win in their season finale.

Junior center Conrad Mason (Tarpon Springs, FL) was the third Case player in double figures with 16 points. Ferederigos finished with a game-high 35 points.
