CLEVELAND, OH (January 19, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University sophomore guard Steve Young (St. Louis, MO-pictured) scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds as the Spartans lost 85-68 at Brandeis University in a University Athletic Association contest.
Sophomore guard Kevin Olson gave Brandeis (12-3, 2-2) a 10-point lead (21-11) with a jumper at the 11:54 mark and the Judges pushed their lead to 16 (35-19) on a freshman guard Andre Roberson layup at 4:17. Young hit his fourth three-pointer of the half with 47 seconds left to bring Case (4-11, 0-4) within eight (42-34). Young was 4-of-4 from behind the arc (5-of-5 from field) in the first 20 minutes and scored 18 points.
Brandeis increased its lead to 24 (77-53) at the 6:55 mark in the second half on a freshman forward Terrell Hollins layup. Hollins led the Judges with 15 points. Brandeis edged the Spartans in rebounding (31-30) and forced 23 turnovers. Junior center Rob Skuski (Russell, OH) and freshman guard Antwain Coward (Washington, DC) each had 10 points for Case.
Case travels to New York University Sunday for a 12:00 p.m. game.
