KENYON 85, CASE 76...
CLEVELAND, OH (December 6, 2006) - Case Western Reserve University junior center Mason Conrad (Tarpon Springs, FL-pictured) and junior guard Brandon Bradford (Detroit, MI) both recorded career-highs in points with 29 and 23, respectively, as Case lost to visiting Kenyon College, 76-85, at Horsburgh Gymnasium in the Veale Center. Conrad also had 10 rebounds, recording his third double-double of the season.
The Spartans (2-4) shot just 37.5 percent from the field and went 0-for-10 from the free throw line in the first half. The Lords (5-2) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on a three-pointer at the 18:53 mark by sophomore guard Korey Haddox. The Spartans answered with 10-2 run, taking a 10-7 lead on a layup by sophomore guard Steve Young at 15:30. The game was tied, 24-24, with 7:31 left, but Kenyon outscored Case 17-2 to end the half with a 41-26 lead.
The Lords never trailed in the second half. Kenyon led by 15 three times, the last time being, 51-36, at 14:45 after a freshman forward Dave Knapke layup. The closest the Spartans would get was five points, 60-55, on a Bradford layup the 8:23 mark. The Lords had four players in double figures led by sophomore guard David Jolson’s 19 points. Case senior guard Matt Cannan (Dublin, OH) recorded a double-double on the night (11 points, 10 rebounds).
Case will travel to Milwaukee this weekend for the Milwaukee School of Engineering Tournament. The Spartans open-up with Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
