OBERLIN 78, CASE 64...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 29, 2006) - Case Western Reserve University junior center Mason Conrad (Tarpon Springs, FL-pictured) recorded a double-double tonight in a 78-64 loss at Oberlin College. Conrad recorded a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds. The Spartans will host Washington & Jefferson College this Saturday at Horsburgh Gymnasium (8:00 p.m.).
Conrad gave Case (1-3) an early eight-point cushion, 24-16, with a three-point play at the 8:23 mark in the first half. Oberlin (1-4) then went on a 15-8 run and took a 32-31 lead with 2:32 left in the half on a jump shot by junior forward Joe Blasher. The Spartans out rebounded the Yeomen 20-14 in the first 20 minutes and 44-31 in the game, but trailed 37-34 at the break.
The Yeomen pushed their lead to 20 points in the second half, 65-46, on a three-point field goal by junior guard Matt Godwin at the 8:43 mark. Case cut its deficit to 11 points with 2:49 left in the game on a Conrad foul shot, but that was as close as the Spartans would get. Case shot just 30 percent from the field in the last 20 minutes and Oberlin shot 61 percent.
