WASHINGTON 111, CASE 74...
ST. LOUIS, MO (February 10, 2006) - For the eleventh time this season Case Western Reserve University senior forward Carson Oren-pictured (South Bend, IN) led his team in scoring with 14 points as the Spartans lost to Washington University 111-74 on the road tonight in a University Athletic Association contest. 
Case falls to 10-11 overall and 2-8 in the UAA while the Bears improve to 14-7 and 6-4. The Spartans will travel to Chicago on Sunday to face the University of Chicago at 1:00 p.m. (CST).
Washington jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game as Case did not score their first points until the 15:07 mark on a senior guard Funso Lafe (Chesterland , OH) jumper. Lafe finished the game with 11 points. The Spartans battled back to bring it within two (27-25) with 6:23 left in the half, but the Bears, who shot 57.6 percent from the field and made 7-of-10 three pointers, built their lead back up to 13 (51-38) by the break.
Washington increased their lead to 26 (76-50) at the 11:42 mark in the second half on three consecutive three-pointers, two of them made by senior guard Scott Stone (St. Louis, MO). They finished the night 14-26 (53.8%) from behind the arc, snapping a three game losing streak. Stone finished the game with 20 points and sophomore guard Danny O'Boyle (Scottsdale, AZ) had a game high 22 for the Bears.
Case freshman guard Steve Young (St. Louis, MO) added 13 points in front of his hometown crowd.
