MEN'S BASKETBALL—2005-06

Case falls to 2-1 and Wilmington improves to 3-0. The Spartans will next travel to Westminster College on Sunday (Nov. 27) for a 6:00 p.m. game.

The Spartans battled back from two six point deficits, 62-56 at the 5:37 mark and 64-58 at the 4:10 mark, to take the lead 65-64 with under two minutes left in the game. After a Quaker miss with just a minute left in the game Case had the ball and the lead, but turned the ball over and Wilmington’s Nick Berter scored to put Wilmington ahead 66-65. The Spartans had another chance to win the game as Lafe had two shots at the free throw line with three seconds left on the clock, but unfortunately missed both.

Lafe hit 7 of 8 shots from the field in the first half for 17 points as the Spartans shot 56 percent from the field (14-25). Case also out rebounded the Quakers, but trailed by two at the half, 39-37. Wilmington shot 50 percent (6-12) from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes.

Spartan sophomore guard Brandon Bradford (Detroit, MI) also had a career high 11 assists and senior forward Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) a double-double with 10 rebound and 11 points on the night.

Senior forward Eric Stirling (Brooklyn, NY) recorded a double-double, with 14 points and ten rebounds to lead the Quakers.
