BOSTON, MA (February 20, 2005) - Case Western Reserve University freshman guard Jeremy Sallee (Hamilton, OH) led four Spartans in double digits this afternoon with 18 points as Case fell 94-78 in Boston to Brandeis University in University Athletic Association action. The Spartans fall to 5-18 overall and 1-11 in the UAA and the Judges improve to 14-10, 7-6.
Despite both teams statistics being very comparable in the first half, Brandies took a 49-38 advantage into the intermission. Case shot 50 percent (15-30) from the field and grabbed 14 rebounds compared to the Judges 52.8 (19-36) and 19 boards. Sallee connected on 4 of 6 shots for 12 points to lead the Spartans and senior guard Omri Ayalon (Potsdam, NY) made 5 of 6 three-pointers for 15 points to lead Brandeis.
Case increased their shooting percentage in the second half to 59.3 percent (16-27, 54.4 for the game), but turn the ball over 9 times (15 in the game) and were out rebounded 15-10 in the second half, 34-29 in the contest. Judge senior forward Bryan Lambert (Auburn, ME) scored 13 of his game high 24 points and grabbed 6 of his game 10 rebounds in the last 20 minutes to lead Brandeis.
Case freshman center Conrad Mason (Tarpon Springs, FL) and junior forward Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) each added 14 points.
The Spartans will face Carnegie Mellon University Wednesday night in the Veale Center at 8:00 p.m. The game was originally schedule for January 30, but was postponed due to weather.
