BRANDEIS 74 , CASE 66 ...
CLEVELAND, OH (January 21, 2005) - Case Western Reserve University freshman center Mason Conrad (Tarpon Springs, FL) led three Spartan players in double digits with 19 points as Case fell 74-66 to visiting Brandies University (Boston) in University Athletic Association action tonight at the Veale Center .
The Spartans drop to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the UAA and the Judges improve to 9-5 and 2-2. Case hosts New York University Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
Case junior forward Carson Oren scored 12 of his 16 total points in the first 20 minutes as his team led by one, 38-37 at the half. Both teams were equal from the field in the first half, the Spartans went 13-29 (44.8%) and Brandeis 14-30 (46.7%), but Case edged the Judges on the boards 18-15 (39-38 for the game).
The Spartans pulled away from Brandeis in the second half leading by nine, 52-43 with just under 13 minutes remaining, but the Judges outscored Case 31-14 from that point to win their third straight. Senior forward Bryan Lambert scored a game high 22 points and grabbed a game high 15 rebounds to lead Brandeis.
