CLEVELAND, OH (November 23, 2004) - The Case Western Reserve Spartans lost a 94-91 heartbreaker this evening to cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace College. A Richard Mullen (Columbus, OH) three-pointer at the buzzer rattled out, dropping the Spartans to 0-3 on the season while the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets remained undefeated at 3-0.
Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) got the Spartans off to a hot start with a team high 14 first half points to keep Case within striking distance down 46-40 at halftime.
In the second half, Case battled back behind Oren's 23 points and nine rebounds. Fellow junior Funso Lafe (Chesterland, OH) added 22 points and nine rebounds to help the Spartan charge. Leading the way for Baldwin Wallace were the Davis brothers, Thad Davis with a game high 29 points and his brother Tori Davis with 26 points.
Case will take the Thanksgiving weekend off from competition and will next be in action on Tuesday, November 30th when they travel to Delaware, OH for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against Ohio Wesleyan University.
