CLEVELAND, OH - Case Western Reserve University sophomore forward Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) scored a team high 17 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds, but the Spartans (4-20, 2-11 UAA) fell this afternoon 87-63 on the road to Carnegie Mellon University (14-10, 6-7 UAA).
Carnegie Mellon outscored Case 12-3 in the first five minutes of play and shot 50 percent (14-28) from the field in the first 20 minutes to take a ten point lead, 39-29, into the break. The Spartans only hit 12 of 33 (36.4%) shots in the first half and were out rebounded 21-16 by the Tartans.
Carnegie Mellon continued to hit the boards in the second half, out rebounding Case 27-19 and 48-35 in the game. They also continued to shoot well going 18 for 36 to finish the game fifty percent from the field to hand the Spartans their seventh straight loss.
The Tartans had three players score in double digits led by Michael Divens, who had 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Case junior Dave Lenzer (N. Canton, OH) and freshman Matt Cannan (Dublin, OH) added nine points a piece.
The Spartans end their season this Saturday (1:00 p.m.) at home against Emory University.
