#3 Rochester 70, Case 56
CLEVELAND, OH – Case Western Reserve University (4-19, 2-10 UAA) sophomore guard Funso Lafe (Chesterland, OH) scored 20 points and sophomore forward Carson Oren (South Bend, IN) added 19 as the Spartans fell to the University of Rochester (22-1, 11-1 UAA), who is currently ranked this in the nation, 70-56 tonight in New York.
Case played strong the entire game and only trailed by four, 35-31, at the break. Oren was three of three from the field and made three of four from the line for ten points in the first 20 minutes. As a team, the Spartans shot 60 percent from the field (12-20), but the Yellowjackets pounded them on the boards 15 to nine.
Rochester continued to hit the boards in the second half, out rebounding Case 24 to eight and 39 to 17 for the game. The Spartans also went a little cold in the last 20 minutes, only connecting on 10 of 28 (35.7%) from the field to drop their sixth straight.
The Yellowjacket were led by Seth Hauben’s 24 points, 15 of which he scored in the first half. He also pulled down a game high 12 rebounds. The Spartans travel to Carnegie Mellon University Sunday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. game against the Tartans.
